Fire departments train in vacant house

This is from Dennis McGuire, Jr. The Alsip Fire Department, in collaboration with the Garden Homes Fire Protection District and the Homewood Acres Fire Protection District, conducted a controlled burn at a vacant house located at 120th Street and Hamlin Avenue in Alsip, Illinois. The event marked the culmination of a month-long training exercise involving multiple departments. Before the final burn, each department participated in several smaller training scenarios within the home to practice various fire suppression techniques and emergency response procedures. I arrived toward the end of the process and was fortunate enough to witness the final phase, which included the controlled demolition and full-scale burn of the structure. The training provided valuable hands-on experience for firefighters from all three districts, allowing them to work together in a realistic environment. It also highlighted the importance of inter-agency cooperation in emergency situations. Below are some photos from the event:
