First, the raw material bottleneck. In 2003, China became the world's first consumer country, while the domestic production of the top five engineering plastics can only meet about 15% of the demand. Although the output of ABS resin in the domestic market has grown from 299,000 tons in 2000 to 915,000 tons in 2004, an average annual increase of 41.2%, it is still far behind the increase in demand.
