What should be done before the mercury paste is distilled

The extraction of gold from a mercury paste requires several steps of washing, pressure filtration and distillation. The distillation products sponge gold, gold sponge obtained by melting after silver and gold ingots.

The first step in the treatment of amalgam is washing. The externally mixed mercury product is relatively pure, and the washing method of the mercury paste is relatively simple. Washing for a rectangular work table, the table is laid a thin copper plate, a circular hole bored around the mesa, and receiving circular pipe connected to the container. After the end of the washing, the mercury dispersed in the washing process is swept to the round hole and flows along the tube into the receiving container. The amalgam scraped from the mercury plate is placed in a porcelain dish and rinsed repeatedly with water. The operator puts on the rubber gloves and licks the mercury paste by hand to wash the impurities in the mercury paste. Scrap iron mixed amalgam sucked out of available magnets. Washing the mercury paste with hot water is easy to wash and washes quickly. However, it is easy to cause mercury to evaporate and endanger the health of workers. If there are no reliable and reliable safety measures, it is generally not suitable. Too hard amalgam can be diluted with mercury and then washed. Mercury pastes containing a lot of impurities are dark gray, so the washing process should be washed until the mercury paste is bright and clean.

The mercury paste obtained from the mercury amalgamation tank and the mercury trap is more impurities and needs to be treated by a suture chute or a gold pan. The mercury paste initially cleaned up with these mechanical devices requires further washing. The washing process is the same as the washing of the externally mixed mercury product.

After the end of the wash, the mercury paste is wrapped with a dense cloth and sent to a pressure filter to remove excess mercury and obtain a concentrated solid mercury paste. In small-scale production, manual pressure filtration is also used, and it can also be treated by a screw filter press or a lever filter press. For mass production, a large amount of mercury paste is used for pneumatic and hydraulic filter presses. Some small mines use vise to squeeze the mercury paste.

The solid mercury paste produced by pressure filtration generally contains gold in the range of 30-40%. The gold content of solid mercury paste mainly depends on the size of the amalgamated gold particles. When the gold particles are larger, the gold content also reaches 45-50%. If the gold particles are small, the gold content may drop to 20-25%.

Mercury filtered from a mercury paste contains 0.1 to 0.2% dissolved gold, which can be mixed with mercury. If the gold particles collected by the mercury-mixing and the filter cloth are not dense, the mercury contained in the pressure-filtered gold will be rich, and the gold can precipitate the bottom of the water container after being left for a long time. This type of mercury is known in the industry as "recovery," and its re-use in amalgamation is better than pure mercury. Especially suitable for "sick" mercury boards. If the extruded mercury contains suspended impurities, filter paper or paper may be added to the funnel, and a pinhole is punched in the paper to remove impurities.

After the mercury paste is washed and filtered, the raw material for steaming can be operated.
