Buffalo Grove house fire 2-25-11

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department (BGFD) was called just before 2 p.m. when a homeowner returned to find their house filled with smoke. Within minutes, the deputy chief arrived on the scene and observed smoke coming from the rear of the home. He immediately upgraded the alarm to a Code 4, signaling for additional resources. Engine 26 and Battalion 4 quickly responded and launched an interior attack. The fire originated in a second-floor rear bedroom, then spread to the attic and adjacent room. Though the fire burned through the floor of that bedroom, it was contained before reaching the first floor. Mutual aid came from several nearby departments, including Long Grove, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Arlington Heights, Palatine, and the Buffalo Grove Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
