U.S. To Build Citrus To Make Alcohol

FPL Energy, a subsidiary of the US FPL Group, announced in late July that it will sign an agreement with Citrus Energy of Florida, USA to develop the first commercial device for the production of ethanol from citrus peel. The cellulosic ethanol plant will be owned and operated by FPL Energy, which is expected to produce 4 million gallons of ethanol per year and is located in Florida where citrus processors are located.

According to reports, the fuel ethanol developed by the project, using citrus waste and other biomass as raw materials, will minimize the impact on the environment and significantly reduce the cost. It is said that the production of ethanol from citrus peels is expected to make Florida produce more than 60 million gallons of fuel each year, which will replace the annual consumption of gasoline in Florida by about 1%.

FPL Energy is a leading energy supplier that uses clean fuels such as natural gas, wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear power. The company is a leading developer of wind energy in the United States and has 49 wind energy facilities in 15 states. The company is the largest electricity service provider in the United States, with an annual turnover of nearly $16 billion.
