The Chinese Academy of Sciences low temperature plasma waste gas treatment demonstration project passed the acceptance

On March 8, the Central China Science and Technology Service Network Plan (STS Plan) regional key project titled "Typical Coupling Model and Demonstration of Economic Development and Ecological Civilization Construction in Sunan Villages and Towns" held its acceptance meeting in Taicang, Jiangsu. The event brought together experts, local leaders, and project participants to review the progress and achievements made during the project's implementation. A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation of a low-temperature plasma exhaust gas treatment system developed jointly by the Plasma Institute and Zhongke Xintiandi (Hefei) Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. This technology received high praise from the evaluation panel and was recognized as one of the landmark achievements of the project. The demonstration project, which was set up specifically for this initiative, played a crucial role in efficiently managing odor emissions from waste compression stations in Sunan villages. Experts and officials emphasized the importance of promoting this technology more widely, as it aligns with the national vision of building "beautiful villages" and a "beautiful China." They believe that such innovations can significantly contribute to sustainable rural development and environmental protection. As part of the STS Plan’s regional key project on the coupling of economic growth and ecological civilization in southern Jiangsu, the Plasma Institute took on the challenge of researching plasma-based waste gas treatment technologies. Through effective coordination, management, and execution, the project successfully met all its objectives. The team published three SCI papers, filed four patents, developed two sets of low-temperature plasma waste gas treatment systems, and established a full-scale demonstration site. These technologies have now been commercialized and are being applied in real-world scenarios. This achievement marks a significant step forward in integrating advanced science and technology into rural environmental governance, demonstrating how innovation can support both economic and ecological sustainability.
