The nickel-smelting slag generally belongs to the FeO-SiO 2 system and the FeO-SiO 2 -CaO (MgO) system. The FeO-SiO 2 -CaO state diagram is shown in Figure 1. From Fig. 1, the melting temperature of a certain composition of slag can be determined. By using the eutectic composition of these oxides, the slag composition having the lowest melting point can be obtained. For example, Fe 2 SiO 4 is lower in the vicinity of the olivine, and is about 1200 ° C. After the addition of CaO, the melting point is reduced, which can be reduced to about 1100 °C near the S and K points in Figure 1. During the smelting process, attention must be paid to the change of Fe 3 O 4 , so FeO—Fe 2 O 3 —SiO should be studied. 2 slag system, as shown in Figure 2. Since the nickel ore raw material often contains more MgO, the produced slag contains more MgO. The slag of the original electric furnace smelting of Jinchuan Company is divided into (%): 0.20 Ni, 0.10 Cu, 26.85 Fe, 0.07 Co, 0.8 S, 3.73 CaO, 10.51 MgO, 38.35 SiO 2 . The slag containing MgO less than 10% has no great influence on the slag property. When the MgO content exceeds 14%, the melting point of the slag rises rapidly, the viscosity increases, and the unit power consumption increases. As seen from Fig. 3, the slag property was keratinized due to precipitation of refractory 2MgO.SiO 2 (melting point 1890 ° C). However, when the MgO content in the slag is higher than 22%, the slag conductance increases, and as the MgO content in the slag increases and the FeO content decreases, the slag contains a lower valence metal. The slag contains CaO in the range of 3% to 8%, which has no effect on the slag properties. When the content of CaO increases to about 18%, the conductance of the slag increases by 1 to 2 times, the density and viscosity of the slag decrease, and the melting point increases. However, the solubility of sulfides in the slag is reduced.
