Luo Bingsheng, executive vice chairman of the China Iron and Steel Association, said on July 24 that in the first half of the year, China’s total steel output was 237.58 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.92%. However, from the perspective of output, the industrial concentration of the steel industry in China is gradually declining.
Luo Bingsheng said in an interview with Xinhua News Agency reporters that from the classification of the size of the company, it can be seen that the degree of industrial concentration is declining. In the first half of the year, the steel output of 21 large enterprises with an annual output of over 5 million tons of steel accounted for 50.54% of the total steel output, a decrease of 2.05% from the same period of the previous year; large and medium-sized enterprises producing 1 million tons of steel per year The output growth was 14.52%, which was 4.34 percentage points lower than the growth of the entire industry. In the first half of the year, the local SME steel production increased by 36.8%, which was 17.89 percentage points higher than the growth of the entire industry.
