This message is from Dan McInerney. He shared some photos taken this morning during the 2-11 response at 1433 S. Kenneth. By the time he arrived, the fire had already been mostly brought under control. The incident took place in a three-story, vacant apartment building that had been marked with the ominous red "X." The fire was primarily concentrated on the third floor. A tower ladder, Truck 5's Snorkel, a multi-versal, and several handlines were utilized to combat the flames. Both Tower Ladder 14 and Engine 99 experienced mechanical issues—Engine 117 was dispatched to replace Engine 99, and Truck 5 was sent as a backup for Tower Ladder 14.
Attached are a few images of the scene and some photos of the firefighting equipment. The first three photos show the Snorkel and multi-versal positioned on the north side of the burning building.

The entire operation seemed intense, with multiple units working together to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. It’s always impressive to see how quickly firefighters can mobilize and coordinate their efforts, even when faced with challenges like mechanical issues or vacant structures. These photos really capture the scale and complexity of modern firefighting operations in urban environments.
As someone who appreciates the dedication and skill of our first responders, it’s heartening to see these images and know that such capable individuals are out there protecting our communities.
