Yichang Expressway will be overhauled next month

Yichang Expressway will begin major repairs in June. In the afternoon of April 23rd, in order to find out the problems existing in Yichang Expressway overhauling half-way two-way traffic and accident emergency rescue, Yichang Expressway conducted an on-site emergency drill for traffic organizations.

Yichang Expressway was opened to traffic in December 1999. Due to the passage of a large number of overloaded vehicles, the pavement has been severely damaged, and structures such as bridges and culverts have also suffered from varying degrees of disease. The total investment of the overhaul project is estimated to be 779 million yuan. It is planned to start in June and be completed in November. At that time, the cement pavement will also be upgraded to asphalt pavement. The overhaul will be carried out on the basis of the original road of the Yichang Expressway. The line will start at the north of the Zijiang No. 2 Bridge and end at the Tanshuping in Changde. The total length of the transformation line is 73.08 kilometers. The scope of the transformation includes main roads, interchanges and access roads in service areas, protection and drainage works, bridge reinforcement and bridge decks, cross-line facilities, safety facilities, and mechanical and electrical engineering.
