Wärtsilä was awarded a ship plan for four new LNG powered tankers

Recently, Wärtsilä received a contract to provide a ship plan for four new LNG-powered tankers.
The four new ships will be built by AVIC Dingheng. The shipowners are three shipowners from Sweden – two ships built for Furetan, one for Älvtank and one for Thun Tankers. After the delivery of the four ships, the Furantek Leasing Company will be responsible for commercial management and join the Gothia Tanker Alliance.
Wärtsilä’s contract was signed in the second quarter of this year. Wärtsilä will supply each ship with a 9-cylinder Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel main engine, two Wärtsilä Auxpac 20 auxiliary engines, a gas valve unit, a controllable pitch propeller with a 1A ice class symbol, and a High performance nozzles. In addition, the ship will be equipped with a Wärtsilä Energopac rudder system, a Wärtsilä Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system for auxiliary engines, 12 Wärtsilä deep well cargo pumps, and 2 units with variable frequency control systems. Wärtsilä deep well ballast pump. Wärtsilä's supply also includes a gearbox and a shaft generator set. The above equipment will be delivered in the spring of 2017.
It is reported that the construction of the new ship will be designed by the Swedish ship design company FKAB. Compared with similar ships built in 2002-2012, CO2 emissions have been reduced by nearly 50%.
