Key Fob Stops Working, But Manual Door Buttons Function Fine

If your key fob fails to unlock the doors while the manual button on the door works perfectly, the problem is likely due to a dead battery in the key fob. Most key fobs use small batteries that are easy to replace.

1. Start by gently prying open the key fob by holding it from both sides.
2. Inside, you'll find a small battery. Remove and replace it with a new one.
3. Test the fob to ensure it's now functioning correctly.

One Door Stops Locking/Unlocking

When only one door isn’t responding, diagnosing the issue becomes simpler. In most cases, the problem lies with the actuator motor inside the door. Over time, these motors can wear out, producing a buzzing noise when you attempt to lock or unlock the door.

To replace the actuator motor, follow these steps:

1. Order replacement parts online.
2. Remove the door panel by locating and unscrewing the screws around the door handle and armrest. Check inside the speaker for additional screws.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the door locks and the door panel.
4. Once the panel is off, peel back the protective shroud to expose the internal components.
5. Match the new actuator motor with the old one, typically found beneath the door lock rod.
6. Carefully detach the old motor and install the new one, ensuring it’s securely attached.
7. Reassemble everything in reverse order.

It’s worth noting that the actuator motor failing is a fairly common maintenance task for vehicles. It’s simply a part that experiences wear and tear over time.
