Toyota Hits a Milestone for Certified Pre-Owned Sales

Vehicles that have already seen some road miles have always held significant importance in the automotive industry. Given the complexity and sophistication involved in manufacturing a car, it's no surprise that these machines are designed to endure for many years. Companies are increasingly recognizing the untapped potential in the pre-owned vehicle market, and Toyota has long been at the forefront of this trend. Known for producing durable and reliable cars, Toyota recently achieved a remarkable milestone that places them in a league of their own.

Toyota has just sold its three millionth Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle. This isn't your average second-hand car; each of these vehicles undergoes an exhaustive process to ensure they meet the highest quality standards. From rigorous testing and inspection to replacing Toyota parts with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) components or adding genuine Toyota accessories, every effort is made to restore these vehicles to a condition that rivals that of a brand-new model straight out of the factory.

According to Toyota's press release, the record-setting sale followed a groundbreaking year in 2010 when they became the first automaker to surpass 300,000 certified used vehicle sales in a single year. In 2010 alone, they sold 315,418 certified pre-owned vehicles, marking an impressive 18.6% increase compared to the previous year.

Lexus, another prominent name within the Toyota family and one of the leading luxury brands globally, pioneered its own CPO program. The vehicles sold under this program are described as meticulously inspected using a 161-point checklist, thoroughly reconditioned to appear virtually indistinguishable from new, and confidently backed by a warranty covering three years or 100,000 miles.

The buyer of the three-millionth CPO Toyota was a Chicago-based mother of two. As part of the celebration, she received a full refund of her purchase price, and Toyota matched the amount with a donation to the NorthShore University HealthSystem Foundation.

For those interested in learning more about the benefits of buying a certified used vehicle, there are plenty of resources available. For instance, if you're looking to save money on auto repairs, there are practical tips to help keep maintenance costs down. Additionally, understanding how to identify unscrupulous mechanics can prevent unnecessary expenses and headaches. And while hybrid vehicles offer numerous advantages, it's important to know where to find genuine replacement Toyota parts when needed.

As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, Toyota remains committed to providing exceptional value and reliability through its extensive network of certified pre-owned vehicles. Whether you're considering a Lexus or a Toyota, the assurance of purchasing a vehicle that meets stringent quality standards can provide peace of mind for any driver.
