Thermo Fisher's new plant develops and produces portable analytical instruments

According to the information, Thermo Fisher Scientific announced that it has established a new center in its factory in Massachusetts. The new Thermo Fisher Center of Excellence occupies an area of ​​156,000 square feet, mainly developing and manufacturing portable analytical instrument products.

We invested $20 million to build this world-class facility and reaffirmed our commitment to Massachusetts and new scientific discoveries to drive sustained economic growth. Marc Casper, president and chief executive officer of the company, said in a statement. The new center of excellence creates a solid foundation for our continued growth in portable and handheld instruments, and high-tech tools help our customers make the world safer. We have been able to apply common analytical techniques in the laboratory to areas not used by scientists.

Thermo Fisher estimated that the center will produce 100 jobs involving research, development, and manufacturing. At present, the company owns 400 employees in the Massachusetts factory.

The new center will cover the company's line of portable instrumentation, including the TruScan portable Raman spectroscopy instrument, the NITONXL3tGOLDD series of X-ray fluorescence spectrometers, and the TruNarc analyzer for drug screening based on Raman spectroscopy.
