Cummins Inc. recently announced that it will implement a recruitment freeze plan globally and last for at least until the end of this year. Cummins announced in April this year that it will invest US$219 million in its Seymour plant to produce a new high-speed diesel engine and said it will add 290 jobs in the next few years. Cummins’s sales have increased significantly in recent years, with its profit growth up to 80% in 2011. The company currently has 46,200 employees worldwide and employs only 7,800 people in Indiana. However, due to the reduced demand for diesel engines in the international market, Cummins’ net profit fell by 7.1% year-on-year in the second quarter of this year.
