Changqing Oilfield: Adhere to the Harmony Development of Oilfield and Local Science

On April 24th, Gansu Province held a ceremony to celebrate International Labor Day and honor the “May 1st Double Prize” and “Worker Pioneer” recipients at Lanzhou Ninghuangzhuang Hotel. Following the event, the reporter had an exclusive interview with Dr. Xinquan Xu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at Changqing Oilfield Company, and the company’s General Manager, who is also a recipient of the National May 1st Labor Medal. Dr. Xu expressed deep gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing that this award reflects the strong support from the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and government. As one of China’s largest state-owned energy enterprises, Changqing Oilfield plays a vital role in ensuring national energy security. The company's core mission is to increase oil and gas production and contribute meaningfully to the country's economic growth. This honor will serve as a motivation for the team to work even harder and support Gansu’s industrial development strategy. In the past year, Changqing Oilfield achieved an oil and gas equivalent of 20 million tons, with plans to reach 30 million tons next year. The company has focused on developing core technologies tailored to its unique conditions, aiming to boost single-well output while reducing decline rates. By optimizing production organization and adopting advanced management models, such as "standardized design, modular construction, and digital management," Changqing has enhanced efficiency and sustainability in low-permeability and ultra-low permeability fields. Changqing has also made significant progress in the Jidong and Xifeng oilfields, with the latter winning the National Quality Project Gold Award. In 2007, the company reached a crude oil output of 2.6 million tons, and by 2009, it aimed to achieve an oil and gas equivalent of 30 million tons. A major highlight of Changqing’s achievements is the successful development of the Sulige Gas Field, China’s largest onshore gas field. Initially deemed unviable by foreign companies like BP and Shell due to complex geological conditions, the field was transformed through innovative technical solutions and a collaborative development model. Changqing developed a “5+1” cooperative mechanism and a “Six-Unified, Three-Shared” approach, along with 12 key supporting technologies centered on well location optimization and rapid drilling. These innovations have enabled cost-effective and efficient development of low-permeability gas fields. Throughout the project, safety and environmental protection were prioritized, resulting in zero accidents, pollution, or emissions. The Sulige Gas Field now supplies stable gas to over 15 major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi’an. Dr. Xu concluded by stating that Changqing Oilfield remains committed to its corporate philosophy of “providing energy and creating harmony.” It emphasizes coordinated development with local communities, actively participates in social welfare initiatives, and fulfills its political and social responsibilities through activities such as drought relief, flood control, poverty alleviation, and the Hope Project, contributing significantly to regional development.
