This report comes from Tyler Tobolt:
Crystal Lake Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 3217 Carrington Drive around 3:20 PM. Engine 341 reported an extremely large header while en route, prompting Crystal Lake Battalion Chief 330 to request a second alarm on Box Card #5-371. Shortly after, Engine 341 arrived to discover a fully engulfed two-story home spreading across multiple divisions. Firefighters immediately switched to a defensive strategy. Not long after, Battalion 330 arrived and escalated the response by calling for Tanker Box #5-371 and upgrading Engine Box #5-341 to a fifth alarm. Additionally, they requested a MABAS Division 4 Interdivisional Box alarm for further reinforcements. The primary structure, a 2-story, 50 x 50-foot house, spread its flames to three adjacent properties. There were also several small brush fires in the vicinity due to embers. Eventually, the main building collapsed. For more photos, visit: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.556844084338733.1073741834.228548690501609&type=1

From the Northwest Herald:
CRYSTAL LAKE – Two firefighters are receiving treatment for minor injuries following a multi-alarm fire that destroyed four homes earlier today in a residential area near Crystal Lake. One house remains actively burning on the 3200 block of Carrington Drive. Fire officials are proceeding cautiously due to a ruptured gas line, according to Crystal Lake Battalion Chief Chris Olsen. The fire has not been fully extinguished due to concerns about potential gas fumes. Nicor has just arrived on the scene to address the gas leak, allowing firefighters to complete their work safely. Olsen stated that the ruptured gas line is not suspected to be the cause of the fire, and the exact origin of the blaze is still under investigation.
All residents inside the affected homes managed to evacuate safely without injury. The two injured firefighters are believed to have suffered only minor heat-related issues and were transported to Centegra Hospital-McHenry for evaluation. Among the properties impacted, one has been entirely consumed by flames. The initial fire broke out at 3217 Carrington Drive sometime after 3:30 PM. Strong winds carried embers across the street, igniting fires in neighboring homes. Several local fire departments and the Red Cross were summoned to provide assistance.
Traffic remains disrupted along Terra Cotta Avenue and Valley View Road between Park Drive and Crystal Lake Avenue due to ongoing firefighting operations. This event highlights the rapid spread of wildfires and the importance of coordinated emergency responses.
